An experimental, typography-driven sports graphic package promoting the Mets Yankees Subway Series on SNY,
the NY Met’s regional network.
I always try to make something unique in each of my projects, and I got really inspired by Blue Note records.
My typography professor gave me a ton of Blue Note Record books to comb over a weekend. I had them on my lap while working. The style board here is a small collection of my favorites, with a few type references from marquee sports packages.
While the project was the final for a typography class, it also felt like an ultimate test in everything I learned in design up to this point.
The work to get to the final concept really paid off.
The hardest part of this project was finding footage. MLB has a treasure trove of vids, but I had to find the right angle in perspective to make the compositions work.
The circle logos were animated by hand on 4s so I could have more control of spacing. Every frame matters!
